What Is Excite Audio Evolve Alloy?

Evolve Alloy is a sample-based synth built around a quad-layer engine. Each layer can carry a sampled instrument from a pool of more than 250 metallic sources, or a synth oscillator, so you can blend recorded metal with raw synthesis in the same patch. Sampled sources give you play direction, tone and keytracking to shape, while synth sources come with an oscillator shape control and unison detuning. You can even drop in your own samples to start a sound from scratch or swap out a source in an existing patch.

The XY pad sits at the centre of the instrument. In Sounds Mode it blends between your four layers in real time; in FX Mode it modulates any parameter you assign, so a single drag can shift a whole sound. Four macro effects, Sharpen, Rust, Vibrate and Spring, are built specifically for metallic material, alongside dual filters and 16 effects modules to shape things further. If you want a starting point, hit the dice to randomise a single layer or the whole plugin, sound sources, parameters and effects included.

Evolve Alloy is the first instrument in Excite Audio's Evolve series, each one built around the sonic character of a different material. This one covers everything from tuned percussion and shimmering bells to gritty basses and industrial clang.

How to Use Evolve Alloy With Loopcloud

Loopcloud is built around finding the right sounds fast, and Evolve Alloy gives you a way to build entirely new ones from what you find. Here are a few ways to put it to work.

Turn a one-shot into an instrument. Drop a metallic hit, a foley recording or a found sound from Loopcloud into one of Evolve Alloy's four layers and you've got a playable source with tuning, keytracking and modulation on top. A single sample becomes a bass, a pad or a lead.

Blend recorded and synthesised metal. Pair a sampled source with a synth oscillator across two layers, then use the XY pad to morph between them. You get the character of a real metallic recording with the flexibility of a synth engine underneath it.

Sound design on repeat. Roll the dice on a layer, or on the whole instrument, and resample what comes out. Every roll gives you a new source and a new effects chain, so you can build a folder of original metallic textures starting from just one or two Loopcloud samples.
