Noise Design presents ‘The Thing’ — a retro sci-fi/horror soundtrack toolkit in the spirit of late-’70s/early-’80s cinema. Paying tribute to the mood and minimalism of John Carpenter and George A. Romero — and modern homages like Stranger Things — it focuses on pulse, tension and atmosphere rather than pastiche.
Recorded from original vintage hardware synthesizers — Oberheim Matrix-12, Roland Juno-60, Roland Jupiter-4, Moog Voyager — and treated with hardware compressors and tape echoes (Roland Chorus Echo RE-301, Roland Space Echo RE-150), the material pairs authentic analogue character with modern clarity.
Expect ominous drones, pulse-driven bass ostinatos, detuned string pads, eerie arpeggios and siren leads, plus analogue noise beds and tension risers.
The analogue path brings warmth, wow & flutter and grain; careful mixing and sound design keep everything tidy and arrangement-ready. Use it to score paranoia, mystery and midnight neon — or to thread a cinematic edge through electronica and dark wave.
