Create it, Remix it, Dub it, Mash it
Thundering Dub is a roots reggae track built at 120 bpm in G minor. The sound throughout is dry and stripped back: heavy 4-on-the-floor drums, rolling electric bass, horns and keys sitting up front with no gloss. If you know the classic Burning Spear records, that's the territory: raw, weighty, roots foundation music.
This is a played pack, not a programmed one. All guitars, organs, piano skanks, and riffs are played by hand. The bass is live, the hi-hats are live, and every percussion part is live — the majority performed and recorded by Dubmatix, with the drums and a handful of other parts programmed to lock it all down. That's where the dry, human feel comes from.
Every multitrack stem comes in two versions - the original recording (some parts have echo and reverb but most multitrack stems are dry) and a spring-reverb version- so you can build your mix bone-dry and add space where you want it, or start from the sprung version and work backward.
